Preheat the oven to 190°C (375°F).
Hull and halve the strawberries, then place them in a baking dish.
Toss strawberries with granulated sugar, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Spread evenly.
In a bowl, mix plain flour, baking powder, granulated sugar, and salt.
Rub the unsalted butter into the flour mixture until it resembles coarse crumbs.
Stir in whole milk until a soft dough forms.
Drop spoonfuls of the biscuit dough over the strawberries, leaving gaps.
Bake for 35–40 minutes until the topping is golden and strawberries are bubbling.
Cool slightly before serving.
